How GeeTramp stands up to coastal air

Salt air is hard on steel. We have customers who bought a GeeTramp® over a decade ago in coastal towns and are still bouncing on the same frame. Some components have been replaced along the way. That's expected anywhere within a few kilometres of the beach.
Frame
- The galvanised finish is the primary corrosion barrier and provides long-term protection.
- The Black Edition adds a powder-coat layer over the galvanising for an extra rust shield. Worth considering in coastal yards.
- We see very few rust complaints on main frame components.
- Frame steel is 50-60mm in diameter and 2-2.5mm thick depending on size, both heavy enough to outlast pads, mats and springs.
- Customers in coastal areas are still ordering parts after ten or more years.
Springs
- The standard gold-finish springs (used on the standard and high-bounce models) typically last around seven years in coastal areas.
- Australian galvanised springs (available on the 9x14ft, 10x17ft and 14x16ft) last longer in salt air. They cost more upfront but you'll replace them less often.
- The trade-off is straightforward. Gold springs are cheaper. AU galvanised springs last longer.
Mat triangles
- The mat triangles share the gold-finish process used on the standard springs.
- Triangles are usually the first thing to corrode because moisture gets trapped between the mat tab and the steel.
- Marine-grade 316 stainless steel would last longer but is cost-prohibitive for the volume.
- Squirt some light oil into the mat tabs once or twice a year to slow rust.
- If many triangles rust through, replace the mat rather than swap individual triangles. Triangle replacement is fiddly.
- Replacement triangles ship in packs of ten. See spare parts.
The honest summary
Coastal living means everything outside needs more care or more frequent replacement. GeeTramp components sit in the right place on that scale. Better than a typical import. Not marine-grade. Marine-grade pricing isn't justified for the volume.
