What the high-bounce mat actually changes
A high-bounce mat lets a jumper:
- Reach a higher peak.
- Reach the same peak with less effort.
- Stay on the trampoline longer before fatigue sets in.
It is available on four GeeTramp® rectangle sizes: 8x12ft, 9x14ft, 10x17ft and 14x16ft. The Mini and the 7x10ft run the standard mat only.
Same base material, different weave
Both mats are built from Tencate® Permatron®, a USA-made polypropylene mesh that we use across the entire range. The difference is in the weave. The high-bounce variant uses a more open, thermally interlocked weave with a different tension profile. The result is more airflow through the mat and a smoother, more responsive flex under load.
The mat finish is also lower-friction, which means fewer mat burns on the skin during landings.
Measured bounce gain by size
Tested with static weights of 50kg, 65kg and 75kg, the high-bounce mat delivers:
- 8x12ft: 25 to 30 percent more bounce.
- 9x14ft: 20 to 25 percent more bounce.
- 10x17ft: 15 to 20 percent more bounce, with a switch to heavy-duty Australian galvanised springs.
- 14x16ft: 10 to 15 percent more bounce, with the same spring upgrade.
The larger sizes need the heavier springs because the high-bounce mat alone over-flexes against standard springs at that span.
Who benefits most
Anyone wanting an easier, more lively bounce. In practice that means:
- Lighter jumpers who fatigue quickly on a standard mat.
- Acrobatic jumpers doing flips, who get more airtime to complete the rotation.
- Older kids and teens who can feel the difference. Under-9s often can't.
Customer choice patterns confirm the effect: roughly 70 percent of 8x12ft buyers pick the high-bounce upgrade, climbing to about 80 percent on the 10x17ft and 14x16ft.
What it doesn't do
On a round trampoline the gain is marginal, around 5 percent. The geometry of a round just doesn't load the mat the way a rectangle does. We don't offer a high-bounce mat on the Curve for that reason.
